DESCRIPTION:Shelby County Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 8904 and the Auxiliary invite the public to their annual Memorial Day Program to be held in the 1885 Historic Courthouse on the square in Center\, Monday May 28\, 2018. The program will begin at 11:00 a.m. The 203 names of Shelby County military killed in action/missing in action from the Spanish American War to today's War on Terrorism will be read. While the names are being read\, the public is invited to help decorate the Memorial Wreath. Guest speaker will be past Texas VFW State Commander Dan West who served in the US Marine Corps 1983-1994 with service in Beirut\, Korea\, Operation Desert Shield/Storm and Panama. At the end of the program all will adjourn outside to the Veterans Memorial for the playing of Taps and raising the flags to full staff. Please make plans to join us. Bring your family as this is an excellent opportunity to educate our youth about the sacrifices of many.
